This is a 12 month, 1982 model sold new in 1983 which is the very last year of production and the most sort after year and model.
Only 4050 CB1100R’s were made worldwide with only 1500 CB1100RD and interestingly none were sold in the USA making them super collectable today.
The first batch of 110 naked versions of the CB1100R were rushed to Australia with the aim of winning the world renowned Castrol 6 hour and win it did with future MotoGP world champion Wayne Gardner and Australian champion Andrew Johnson aboard.
In 1982 they were back for the Castrol 6 hour in Australia and duly won the production race in the hands of Wayne Gardner and teammate Wayne Clark. So good were the bikes that they finished first, second, third and forth with six CB1100R’s finishing in the top 8 spots, an unheard of feat.
The successes of the Honda and the fact that it is one of the prettiest bikes ever made, make it extremely collectable and since so many of them were lost to racing and accidents, they are very rare to find in beautiful, unrestored condition such as the bike we have here.
The bike is currently fitted with a Megacycle four into one exhaust system. The original exhaust system comes with the bike and is in beautiful original condition having been moth balled for preservation as they are impossible to get. This bike has had 2 careful owners. The second person owning the bike for over 30 years. Always garaged kept. It comes fully serviced and ready to go!
