Best Motorcycle Club Near You: Classic Racer Club in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
The Classic Racer Club was founded by enthusiastic motorcyclists who saw the need for a simple and inclusive club. Our club provides an avenue into the red plate scheme, allowing members to register their motorcycles or other eligible vehicles (at least 25 years or older) under one club. We accept any vehicle as long as it meets these criteria and is roadworthy.
Why Do You Need to Register for a Vehicle Club in Victoria, Australia?
To be eligible for a Club Permit, you must be a VicRoads-approved vehicle club or association member. A Club Permit can be issued to vehicles in the following categories:
- Veteran Vehicles: Manufactured before 1 January 1919
- Vintage Vehicles: Manufactured after 31 December 1918 and before 1 January 1931
- Classic and Historic Vehicles: Manufactured after 31 December 1930 but more than 25 years before the date of the application for a Club Permit
These categories can include trailers, heavy vehicles, and modified vehicles such as street rods. Under the classic and historic vehicles category, replicas of eligible vehicles may also be issued a Club Permit.
Club Permit Eligibility and Requirements
A Club Permit vehicle must comply with the Vehicle Standards appropriate to the date the vehicle was manufactured. If the vehicle is imported and has been issued a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, and Arts, the VIN must be stamped on the vehicle.
A Club Permit cannot be issued to:
- A currently registered vehicle
- A vehicle recorded as a statutory write-off
- A vehicle with a Fines Victoria or Hoon sanction
- A vehicle recorded as stolen
We may only issue a Club Permit if the vehicle is safe for road use or if a current Club Permit already exists for the exact vehicle.
